Congratulations to Dr. Kimal Bichara as he has been named the recipient of the November 2010 Trojan Pride Award. Dr. Bichara is the Director of Engineering of Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus. He is a former resident of Bolivar and a tremendous friend of all Tuscarawas County Schools. Dr. Bichara is a visionary leader, especially when it comes to advancing educational opportunities for high school and post-secondary students around STEM initiatives (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Dr. Bichara aggressively pursues grant dollars and channels these resources to directly benefit our students and schools. Dr. Bichara’s devotion and generosity have benefited our students, staff, and community via the brand new computer lab at TVHS equipped with state of the art computers, the offering of dual enrollment courses through KSU Tuscarawas including Gaming and Design and Digital Electronics, the development of a strong collaboration and partnerships with higher education and local businesses to support our public schools, the advancement of Gateway to Technology and Project Lead the Way pre-engineering coursework, and the development of Cyber Club for area high school students, giving students real-life exposure field trip opportunities in the world of advanced technologies.

| Watson Signs With Youngstown State |
Have you ever had a week to remember? Shannon Watson certainly has. Saturday, Watson and the Lady Trojans defeated Adena to qualify for the Division III state volleyball tournament. The week became even sweeter when Watson was named a Division III First Team All-Ohioan on Sunday. Then on Wednesday, Watson signed a letter of intent to play college volleyball at Youngstown State University. The wild week will continued as the Lady Trojans played Gilmour Academy in the state semifinals. Watson, who was a 4-year letterwinner for the Lady Trojans, is considering majoring in either broadcast journalism or criminal justice at Youngstown State. Congratulations Shannon! |
Who Says You Can't Go Home?
Lady Trojans headed back to state volleyball tournament after dramatic victory over Adena! |
It used to seem like a birthright. Each November the Tusky Valley volleyball team would travel to the Nutter Center to participate in the state volleyball tournament. But in each of the last seven seasons the Lady Trojans came up agonizonly short of their goal. Not this year! Behind Shannon Watson's 22 kills and Gabbie Davis' 48 assists the Lady Trojans defeated Adena 25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-9 in an epic regional final to advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2002.

| Koch Runs Personal Best at State |
Congratulations to TVHS sophomore Jordyn Koch as she set a personal record with a time of 20:06 to finish in 62nd place at the division III state cross country championships on Saturday, November 6th. Koch, in her first year of cross country, saved her best for last as she set personal best marks at both the regional and state meets. Koch's 62nd place finish is very impressive when you consider 1,321 runners competed as individuals in division III this season. Great job Jordyn! We are proud of you!
