| Kubina Headed to International Science Fair |
 |
Congratulations to TVHS senior Tyler Kubina as he is headed to the International Science Fair for the second consecutive year. The 2011 International Science Fair will be held in Los Angeles, California on May 8-13th. Kubina's project, Antimicrobial Efficacy of Myrciaria Dubia on Gram-positive and Gram-negative Pathogens In vitro, tested the antibacterial properties of the Amozonian fruit camu-camu on a wide range of bacteria. Kubina earned a rating of superior for the project to qualify for the International Science Fair. Kubina will also be recognized at the Ohio State Science Fair for qualifying for the state fair in six consecutive years. TVHS sophomore Jamie Walter, sophomore Kevin Hambrecht and freshman Ali Picard will also be competing at the state science fair. |
| Weisgarber Named Franklin B. Walter Award Winner |

Congratulations to TVHS senior Ethan Weisgarber as he has been named the Tuscarawas County recipient of the 2011 Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award. The award is sponsored by the Ohio Association of Educational Service Centers. The award was established in 1989 to recognize student achievement and academic accomplishment. It is given to one student in each of Ohio's 88 counties each year. Weisgarber plans to attend The Ohio State University to pursue a degree in chemical engineering and mathematics. |
| Chemistry Students Learn About Engineering Careers |

On Tuesday, March 29th John Agostinelli from the University of Toledo College of Engineering spoke to TVHS chemistry students regarding careers in engineering. Students learned about how engineers work to create solutions to everyday problems, including prosthetics, environmental issues, safety, architecture, and the production of various materials. Some of the various fields in engineering include electrical, chemical, industrial, civil, mechanical, computer, and bioengineering. UT's engineering graduate program is ranked 18th in the nation by the Princeton Review. UT also offers many co-op job opportunities to students while completing their engineering programs and guaranteed scholarships are available for any major at the university to students with a 3.0 GPA and a 20 ACT score. |

| Music Boosters Host “A Taste of Tuscarawas Valley” |

The Tuscarawas Valley Music Boosters held “A Taste of Tuscarawas Valley” on Saturday, March 26 from 6:00-8:00 PM. There was sample food from over 20 different restaurants/vendors. This year we had14 different local restaurants/vendor's confirmed and potentially more by the time of the event. The list of local restaurants/vendors included Canal Street Diner, Susie Q's Pizza, The Pointe Cafe, Campesino's Grill, All Occasion Catering, Kathy's Cookies, Candy and Catering, Sweetie's Place, MMA Fit, The Pampered Chef Independent Consultants Leach, Matics, and Schumacher, Firehouse Grille & Pub, McDonald's, Hog Heaven, Lighthouse Bistro, and Bistro 131. All proceeds benefitted the TV Music Boosters. |
| TVMS Student Council Attends Leadership Day |

On Friday, March 4, thirty-six students from Tusky Valley Middle School attended the Student Council Leadership & Career Day at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. The group was comprised of members of the middle school student council and the Chain Links Club. The students heard presentations by executives from the front office of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Lake Erie Monsters. They learned about the “behind the scenes” jobs that are necessary to produce a professional sporting event. The speakers challenged the students to set goals and to work hard enough to not only meet, but to also surpass their goals. The students also had the opportunity to attend the Lake Erie Monsters Hockey Game where the Monsters beat the Rockford Icehogs 3-2 in overtime. |
| Yeagle Takes Top Prize in Web Design Contest |

Congratulations to TVHS junior Marcus Yeagle as he recently captured first place in the 2011 High School Multimedia Competition sponsored by Kent-State Tuscarawas. Yeagle's victory earned him a $200 cash prize and a $1500 scholarship. The screenshot above is an image of Yeagle's winning website. |
| Cody Hodge Qualifies for State |

Congratulations to TVHS junior wrestler Cody Hodge as he qualified for the 2011 state wrestling tournament by finishing in 4th place at Saturday's regional tournament. Hodge, who wrestles at 145 pounds, improved his record to 26-11 on the season. Hodge will wrestle Milan Edison's Kyle Burns (45-4). The state wrestling tournament will kick off on Thursday, March 3rd at 3:00 PM.
