Congratulations to TVMS 5th grader Jaelle Lindon, 7th grader Sidney King, and 7th grader Dakota Kirtley as they captured first place honors in the category of geometry and measurements at the TCHESC Tri-County Math Tournament. | Wesley West to Intern at Cleveland Clinic! |

Congratulations to TVHS junior Wesley West as he has been selected to participate in an internship program at the Cleveland Clinic. The Cleveland Clinic internship program is 9 weeks long with students working 40 hours per week. Wesley will earn $7.75 per hour and get the chance to work in the cardiac rehab department at one of America's best hospitals. West was selected to participate in the internship program by a panel of judges based on his interest in science/health care and his excellent academic record. Congratulations Wesley!

| Kubina Excels at State Science Fair! |
Congratulations to TVHS junior Tyler Kubina on his recent success at the Ohio State Science Fair. Kubina received a superior rating by the Ohio Academy of Science and also earned several special awards including First Place Scientific American Education Award (Sponsored by Scientific American) and Second Place Osteopathic Award (Sponsored by Ohio University). Kubina also earned the Ohio Academy of Science Special Commendation Plaque which is given to students who have participated in the Ohio State Science Day for five years. Tyler was one of only 13 students in the state of Ohio who earned this award! He also captured $15,000 annual scholarships from Ohio Wesleyan and the College of Wooster! TVHS junior Ashley Cipar and freshman Jamie Walter also captured excellent ratings at the State Science Fair. |
| Patterson Captures PAC Title in Shot Put! |

Congratulations to TVHS senior Garrett Patterson as he captured the PAC title in the shot put on Friday, May 14th! Patterson threw 50' 4" to capture the title and beat the nearest competitor by over 5 feet! |
| TVMS Holds Family Fun Night! |

Tusky Valley Middle School held a Family Night on Friday, May 21st from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the track. TVMS families and 4th grade families viewed a presentation from Chief TallTree. The presentation was followed by music, inflatables, prizes, and cotton candy. There was also a dunk tank that evening for students to try to dunk teachers! Thank you to all the families and students that came out and had a great, free evening of fun! |
| Voters Approve Renewal Levy! |
On behalf of the Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools Family, I want to thank our residents for renewing this $460,000 emergency operating levy and for their continued support of our school district. I am thrilled and incredibly grateful for the community’s faith and confidence in our schools! We will continue to work ambitiously to provide a high-quality education for all students—and to do so in the most responsible, efficient manner. This is what our students deserve and our community expects. I am excited about the future of Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools and look forward to working together with our staff, parents, and residents to help make our district and community the best it can be! | Athletic Boosters Hold Golf Scramble! |

The Tusky Valley Athletic Boosters held a 4-man golf scramble on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Wilkshire Golf Course in Bolivar. The scramble will be a shotgun start and will begin at 9:00 AM. The entry fee for each team will be $260 and includes 18 holes of golf with cart included, donuts, a hot dog lunch, and a steak dinner after golf. Games will include a 50/50 raffle, optional skins game, optional mulligans, long drive contest, closest to the pin contest, closest to the pin on a par 3, and the longest putt on the front/back nine. All proceeds from the event will be used to support Tusky Valley athletics. |
| Academic Challenge Team Appears on WEWS! |

The TVHS Academic Challenge Team appeared on WEWS Newschannel 5's Academic Challenge on Saturday, May 1st at 7:00 PM. TVHS seniors Andrew Hopwood, Zach Hillard, and Emily Hiltner battled students from Loudonville and Canton Central Catholic. The Academic Challenge team had a record of 9-2 this season and finished in 2nd place in the NBC league standings. |
| TVHS Students Bowl for Kids Sake! |

15 students from Tusky Valley High School spent the afternoon of Monday, April 26th participating in the 2010 Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake Bowl-a-Thon. Participating students were asked to raise a minimum of $40 as part of the bowl-a-thon. The TVHS students were able to raise $793 for the event. The Bowl for Kids Sake event is one of the primary sources of funding for Big Brothers Big Sisters. 4th grade students at Tuscarawas Valley Intermediate School will also be bowling on Tuesday, May 4th. Students are reminded that fundraising money is due on Friday, April 30th. Click here to see pictures from the event! |
