| Boys' Golf Team Headed to Columbus! Mark Scott Jr. Captures Individual District Title! |

Congratulations to the Tusky Valley boys' golf team on qualifying for the Division II state golf tournament. The Trojans finished in 2nd place at Monday's district tournament to earn the trip to state. Mark Scott Jr. captured the individual district title with a round of 72. The state tournament will be held October 10th & 11th at the Scarlet Course on the campus of The Ohio State University. Congratulations Trojans! We are proud of you! |
| Zwick, Oliver Capture All County Honors! | ||

Congratulations to TVHS junior Cory Zwick and freshman Courtney Oliver on capturing First-Team All County honors in cross country for their performance at the county meet. Zwick finished in 6th place with a time of 17:48. Oliver also finished in 6th place with a time of 21.28. Congratulations Cory and Courtney! |

| Harper Earns National Award! | |

Congratulations to TVHS senior Logan Harper who was named a 2009 Commended Student by the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 34,000 students across the nation are being recognized by the program. Commended students rank in the top five percent of the 1.5 million who entered the 2009 competition and took the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. |
Golf Team Claims Sectional Title! Mark Scott Jr. Claims Individual Sectional Title! |

Congratulations to the Tusky Valley boys' golf team as they claimed the Division II-A sectional title Monday at River Greens Golf Course. Marck Scott captured the individual sectional title by shooting a one-under par 71. Kyle Norman (79), J.R. Rowland (80), and Cody Morris (80) rounded out the scoring for the Trojans. The team will now advance to the district tournament to be held Monday, September 29th at Marietta Country Club. |
| Science Department Earns Governor's Award! | |

Congratulations to TVHS teachers Cindy Martin and John Hite and TVMS teachers Sue Sciury, Nick Hoalt, and Gregg Strong on receiving the Governor's Award for Excellence in Youth Science Opportunities. The award is based on accomplishments during the 2007-2008 school year. The Ohio Academy of Science recognized 73 schools and 209 teachers across Ohio. Congratulations to our teachers for this outstanding accomplishment! |

Congratulations to the boys' golf team as they captured the 2008 PAC championship today at the Legends Golf Course. Senior J.R. Rowland earned PAC Player of the Year honors and Steve Franks earned Coach of the Year honors. Mark Scott Jr. and Kyle Norman earned first team PAC honors. Congratulations PAC Champions!!! |
| TV Maintains Effective Rating on State Report Card! | ||
I am thrilled with the continued progress and achievement of our students! Although we recognized a slight drop in the number of state indicators achieved this year, our district rating remains “Effective.” This is the second highest rating possible, and it is one that is very challenging to attain. It is also exciting to note that our district’s performance index score continues to climb with more students scoring in the proficient, accelerated, and advanced ranges. Our district also met the federally-required measurement of Adequate Yearly Progress in Reading and Mathematics for the second year in a row! None of this would be possible without the hard work and positive focus of our entire staff, the backing of supportive parents and families, and our students’ desire to make the most of their opportunity to learn and grow. Our staff is fully focused on helping each student be the BEST that he/she can be, and we are committed to being a district of EXCELLENCE! We never want to be satisfied with “second best” or “average,” but to continuously set our sights high and unlock the unlimited learning potential of our students! If we do that right, I believe the “Excellent with Distinction” rating will follow.
