Neil Soehnlen Named 2009 TVHS Valedictorian!
Congratulations to TVHS senior Neil Soehnlen on being named the 2009 TVHS Valedictorian. TVHS seniors Heather Becker and J.R. Rowland have been named Salutatorians. Congratulations on this tremendous accomplishment from the entire TVHS faculty! We are proud of you!

4x800M Relay Team Qualifies for State Meet!

Congratulations to the TVHS 4 x 800M relay team as they qualified for the state meet at the May 28th regional meet. The team consists of senior Nil Sicart, junior Cory Zwick, sophomore Clayton Patton, and sophomore Clay Shetler. The team finished in 4th place at the regional meet with a time of 8:18.98. They will run in the state meet on Friday, June 5th at 1:45 PM. The meet will take place at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.

TVMS Raises Nearly $1700 for Relay for Life!
Fifth through eighth grade students from TVMS participated in a Relay for Life and Wellness on May 22nd in the TV football stadium The students raised $1698.77 during the event.  In addition to walking and raising money for Relay for Life, the students had the opportunity to view exhibits from Tuscarawas County Health Department, Ohio State Extension Office, Mineral City Fire Department, Bolivar Fire Department, Tuscarawas Sheriff’s Department, Fit Youth Initiative and a Metro Life Flight.  There were personnel from these agencies explaining aspects of several health related fields including the use of seat belts, personal safety, fitness, tobacco, alcohol, nutrition, homeland security and body art.  The students also had the opportunity to see emergency response vehicles, the Tuscarawas County Mobile Command Unit and a representative from the K-9 Unit.

Trojan Tracksters Qualify for Regionals!
The Tusky Valley track team had a big weekend as several athletes qualified for this week's regional track meet. TVMS junior Katherine Mansill qualified in the discus while junior Garrett Patterson qualified in the shot put. Also qualifying were the 4 x 800M relay team of Nil Sicart, Clayton Patton, Clay Shetler, & Cory Zwick as well as the 4 x 400M relay team of Nil Sicart, Chris Chamberlain, Clay Shetler, and Cory Zwick. They joined Nick Mayo and Nil Sicart who qualified for regionals in the high jump earlier last week.

Sicart, Mayo Qualify for Regional Meet!
Congratulations to TVHS senior Nil Sicart and sophomore Nick Mayo on qualifying for the 2009 Regional Track & Field Meet in the high jump. Sicart cleared 6'1" to finish in third place at last night's district meet while Mayo finished in fourth place with a jump of 6'. The top four finishers qualified for the regional meet next week at Meadowbrook High School. District competition will continue this Thursday and Saturday at Meadowbrook High School.

Rankin, Patterson Capture PAC Championships!
Congratulations to TVHS senior Lydia Rankin and junior Garrett Patterson as they captured PAC championships at the 2009 PAC Track & Field Meet on Friday night. Rankin jumped 15' 7" to capture the league title in the long jump. Patterson captured the shot put title with a throw of 50'.

Swarny Signs Letter of Intent to Attend Walsh!
Congratulations to TVHS senior Allison Swarny on signing her letter of intent to attend Walsh University for track & field. Swarny is a 2-time regional qualifier and the PAC-7 400M record holder. She also holds the 400M record for the Tusky Valley Invitiational, the County Classic, and the Lidderdale Invitational. Swarny will major in nursing while attending Walsh. Congratulations Allison!

TV Students Earn BCC Foundation Scholarships!
Congratulations to BCC & TVHS students Ben Muzechuk, Alyssa Pace, Nicole Seward, & Lindsey Thompson on recently receiving Buckeye Career Center Foundation scholarships. Each student received a $2250 scholarship. The Buckeye Career Center Foundation exists to serve the secondary students of the Buckeye Career Center and the community through conscientious fund raising designed for the betterment of those involved in the technical trades.

TVHS Students Learn About Careers in Engineering!
John Agostinelli from the University of Toledo visited TVHS on Tuesday, May 5th speak to Miss Almashy's chemistry classes about careers in engineering. Fields of engineering that were highlighted in this hands-on presentation included chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, bioengineering, and computer science.  Students were informed of engineering salaries and job outlook, the advantages of getting an engineering degree when going into the medical field, and about the engineering opportunities at UT.

Trojans Capture Titles at County Classic!

Congratulations to TVHS senior Allison Swarny (400M), junior Garrett Patterson (shot put) and the 4 x 800M team of Clayton Patton (sophomore), Clay Shetler (sophomore), Cory Zwick (junior), and Nil Sicart (senior) as they captured county championships at the County Classic last night. Swarny set a new meet record in the 400M as she took the title with a time 59.0. Congratulations on a job well done!
