| Fifth Grade Students Go Batty! |
 |
Carol Starkey’s
fifth grade CEP (Curriculum Enrichment Program) class celebrated
Halloween by participating in a distance learning program with
Michigan’s Cranbrook
Institute of Science. The Cranbrook Institute of Science
is home to The Organization for Bat Conservation’s Bat Zone.
Students learned all about bats and how they live during this
exciting multi-media presentation featuring three live bats. Topics
included sound waves (echolocation), ecosystems, conservation
and much more! Students met bats from North America and around
the world, some with a 4-foot wingspan! Rob Mies, the Director
and Co-founder of the Organization for Bat Conservation, was also
featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today. The mission of the
Organization for Bat Conservation is to protect bats and their
habitat by presenting educational programs, conducting ecological
research, and collaborating on conservation projects. Learn more
about bats, bat houses, and the Bat Zone at Cranbrook at www.batconservation.org. The cost of our program today supports the efforts of the
Organization for Bat Conservation. |
