College Day Sunday!
College Day Sunday is a free program that helps students and families complete the FAFSA forms for financial aid. These forms are required for federal financial assitance. There will be sessions on Sunday, February 11 at Mount Union College and Stark State College. The sessions will begin at 2:00 PM. Click here for more information or to register online.

Mineral City Students Participate in Safety Town!
Mineral City Elementary students in grades PreK-2 and Head Start students participated in Safety Town on January 23 and 24. This program is to help raise awareness of safety on the streets and many other areas. The students had city streets set up in the gymnasium, complete with the Nicole Donant Library, a post office, a school and a fire station. The students drove cars, rode bikes, and walked on sidewalks through the make believe city. A fireman, a crossing guard, a nurse, and many other volunteers were involved.

Jacob Brown Named T-R Athlete of the Week!

Congratulations to TVHS junior sharpshooter Jacob Brown who has been named the Times Reporter Athlete of the Week! Brown scored 37 points this past week as the Trojans defeated Fairless and Claymont last week to improve their record to 7-5 (3-2).

New SmartBoard on Display at Mineral City!
Mineral City students recently had a chance to experiment with the SmartBoard that was recently installed in the computer lab as part of the $124,000 Enhancing Education Through Technology Grant. Mineral City Elementary was one of only 31 schools in the state of Ohio to receive an EETT grant. The students experienced writing on the board with their fingers and rolling virtual dice to explore the concepts of statistics as well as some addition. Click here to see a photo gallery!

TVHS Students Travel to BGSU!

TVHS students Dominick Pariano, Shauna Schwartz, and Tori Zumwalt will be traveling to Bowling Green State University to participate in the BGSU honors band on January 18-20. The students audition for seating when they get to Bowling Green and practice with world renowned guest conductors for three days with students from all over the state. The three day practice session ends with a public concert in which the students perform the newly learned music.

With the closing of WJER FM (101.7) the Tuscarawas Valley Schools would like to announce where parents can check for school closing information when, and if, winter finally arrives. Information can be found on the media outlets listed below.

COSI on Wheels Visits Bolivar Elementary!

COSI on Wheels visited Bolivar Elementary on Wednesday, January 10th. COSI On Wheels is the traveling outreach program for COSI Columbus. The program is in its 24th year of providing high quality museum experiences to schools in Ohio and surrounding states. The focus of the visit was "It's Simple Chemistry" where students learn to identify substances with chemistry, create endothermic and exothermic reactions, and make a container of super-slime to take home.

TVHS Students Raise Money for Prom!
The Aultman Bloodmobile visited Tusky Valley High School on Wednesday, January 3rd from 1:00 - 7:00 PM. A total of 27 people donated blood including 22 TVHS students. The event raised $500 for the TVHS prom. The prom committe would like to thank those who participated. Click here to view photos from the event!
